Flat Boombox by Hannes Harms
We’ve been enamored with Hannes Harms for a while now, but his latest design might just be his best yet: the recent RCA grad was able to “reduce material, volume and components through flat electronics” to create a flat boombox. The personal audio solution consists of a perforated sheet of acid-etched stainless steel… and apparently not much more than that, thanks to the flat speaker component. In other words, it’s something like a speaker grille without a discernable driver or speaker cone. (at Core77)

SanDisk is not a name that you should forget especially when it comes to portable storage. Solid State Drives, USB flash drives, you name it, SanDisk has got it. This time around, we shall concentrate on what the flash drive department has in store for us – in the form of the Extreme USB 3.0 flash drive. Wacom Bamboo Splash
Wacom has introduced a new budget pen and tablet combo into its line, the Bamboo Splash. The company says that the Splash includes the same pressure sensitive technology found across its whole range, and that this new combo is aimed at those wanting to create digital art on a budget. The hardware comes with a software bundle that will include ArtRage Studio and SketchBook Express.
ArtRage is a painting application that will leverage the pressure sensitivity of the pen combined with the Wacom surface (up to 1024 levels), while SketchBook Express will allow users to draw and sketch doodles or ideas using multiple tools, such as pens or brushes. Wacom say that the Bamboo Splash works with both Macs and PCs, and is also compatible with Windows 8 when it ships in the Fall. (at Slash Gear)
Microsoft Surface Tablets
Leave it to the boys in Redmond to make purchasing a tablet confusing. The new Microsoft Surface Tablets will come in two varieties: one with an ARM processor running Windows RT, and one with an Intel processor running Windows 8 Pro. The RT model sports a 10.6-inch HD display, microSD slot, USB 2.0, a Micro HD video port, and your choice of 32GB or 64GB of storage, while the Pro model features a 10.6-inch Full HD display, a microSDXC slot, USB 3.0, a Mini DisplayPort video port, and either 64GB or 128GB of storage. No matter which one you choose, you’ll be able to attach the magnetic Touch Cover or Type Cover to add a keyboard to the otherwise touchscreen device.
