Extraordinary day to night photography

ThumbnailOur lives, particularly within the urban environment, are governed by light; half natural, half artificial. Light is enticing; promising excitement, safety, community.

Light is also the most basic medium for all visual artists, the waves without which we couldn’t experience their work. Whilst sculpture, film and even some  aspects of painting can be experienced without sight, photography is entirely dependent on it.

The interesting qualities of light have always fascinated artists as this extraordinary series of shots by Stephen Wilkes attests.

Shot at both night and day, the images have been digitally manipulated to combine different times, creating a remarkable sense of distance verging on the voyeuristic. They are most reminiscent of photographs taken of the earth from orbit, showing the edge of the day, and highlight the remarkable change that occurs throughout a 24 hour period.

The Super Transit Series Project

The Super Transit Series Project

What started as a simple idea, totally expanded into a fun project with collaboration with artists from all over the world. Original concept from Theo Kennedy-Cordner, the Super Transit Series is a printable and custom paper toys for your own satisfaction to art and talent. Give it a try and download them all!

Super Transit Series is the brainchild of Theo Kennedy-Cordner who after playing with some paper toys at University really wanted to take this idea and make it his own. He then gathered together some young up-and-coming artists and designers from around the world to collaborate and create unique designs based on a collective plate.

Series 1 is now here with 8 very individual designs based on the first mode of transport, and underground carriage. The designs are free to download and easy to print out and construct. A little bit of free, glorious artistic fun!

For more information about the Super Transit Series and download the free paper toys, you can visit their Behance and by also LIKE them on Facebook.
