Beautiful Houses: Big & Small House

I have been doing the Beautiful Houses post for a while now, and I am also a big fan of architecture. And although I browse architecture related sites looking for inspiring houses, every single day I get impressed with new architectural master pieces.

Today we will show you the cool Big & Small House in Los Angeles, a project by Anonymous Architects. This project is really nice because it shows that even though the house looks small the interiors are wide and really beautiful, proving that with the right architectural decisions you can have a smart use of space and a beautiful result. Definitely a great place to live 😉

Description from the architects: Starting with an empty lot which was half the size of the typical minimum lot size, the objective was to maximize the interior volume of the dwelling. And so there are no full height dividing walls inside the house making the interior room the same size as the building footprint. It is an inversion of luxury in that the smallest house contains the largest room. The free plan of the site mirrors the free plan of the house because the house does not actually touch the ground – giving full access to enjoy the garden and the views outside of it. To maximize usable floor space the shape of the house follows the shape of the site which is somewhat of the parallelogram. This opened up the possibility of some interesting geometries of the building which in turn helps dilute the mass.

Check out Anonymous Architects website for further inspiring projects.
